SPOKANE, WA - Seattle U women's tennis ultimately lost a close match against New Mexico on Friday, Feb. 9 with an overall score of 3-4.
Elena Kraleva and Anastasia Nikolova paired up to begin doubles play, falling to Katherine Jhang and Leonie Hoppe (2-6). Liliya Dimova and Yuna Kadowaki then stepped up to keep the doubles point alive by defeating Hsuan Huang and Maria Sodre (6-4). With the doubles point on the line, Lamija Avdic and Lola Tavcar were dominant in their match against Bente Vandeputte and Maud Vandeputte (6-2), earning the doubles point for the Redhawks.
In singles play, junior Elena Kraleva was victorious in her match against Sarah O'Connor (7-5, 6-4) and freshman Lamija Avdic dominated in her match against Katherine Jhang (6-3, 6-2). Junior Liliya Dimova fell in her match against Hsuan Huang (0-6, 4-6), and freshman Anastasia Nikolova was defeated by Maud Vandeputte (3-6, 0-6). Junior Jade Quintana fell to Leonie Hoppe (2-6, 4-6) and sophomore Lola Tavcar was defeated by Bente Vandeputte (1-6, 1-6).
The Redhawks will continue their road-trip with matches against Eastern Washington on Saturday, Feb. 10 and Gonzaga on Sunday, Feb. 11.
