BELLEVUE, WA - Seattle U baseball dropped their series opener vs Sacramento State, 0-6, Friday night at Bannerwood Park. The Redhawks were held off the scoreboard for the first time in the 2023 season in the loss.
"Disappointing day for our offense as we could never get anything going against Gibbons," said head coach Donny Harrel after the loss. "Chronowski battled and Hoover saved our bullpen, so hopefully that pays off for us the next couple of days."
In his start on the mound, Peter Chronowski went 6 1/3 while giving up four earned runs on four hits and recorded four strikeouts. Mason Hoover came in for relief in the 7th, going the rest of the way and giving up two earned runs while striking out five.
The Redhawk offense was silenced by the Hornets, as they only managed four hits and drew no walks in the ballgame. Cole Kleckner and Derek Gellos evenly split the hits on the day.
Seattle U will look to even the series tomorrow, April 22, in game two of the 3-game series with Sacramento State. Nestor German is scheduled to make the start on the mound for the Redhakws with first pitch set for 2pm PT.
