SEATTLE – Seattle University athletics completed the fall term of the 2023-24 academic year with high academic marks as all 18 teams notched grade point averages over 3.2 in the term, while Redhawk student athletes recorded a collective 3.428 GPA.
This marks the 12th consecutive term that the collective student athlete population has recorded above a 3.30 GPA and the highest term GPA since fall of 2020 when classes were virtual due to the pandemic. 196 student athletes (60.3%) made the Dean's List (3.5+), marking the second highest percentage of student athletes to earn the honor in the past four years. Ninety-three Redhawks made the President's List with a 3.9 or higher GPA.
The cumulative GPA made a jump from the fall quarter, where the Redhawks came in at a 3.389. The number of student athletes on the Dean's and Presidents list also increased from the fall quarter.
Women's golf led the way this quarter with a 3.758 GPA, followed closely by women's cross country who finished with a 3.726. Women's soccer (3.661), softball (3.632) and women's tennis (3.578) rounded out the top five. Men's and women's basketball, who both finished with a 3.566 team GPA, men's golf (3.548), and men's tennis (3.528) made in nine teams to finish with a 3.5 or better.
Women's swimming (3.489), volleyball (3.464), men's cross country (3.450), men's soccer (3.433), and rowing all finished with a 3.4 or higher average in the term.
Baseball (3.346), men's swimming (3.376), women's track & field (3.292), and men's track & field (3.222) all had great terms as well.
A total of 64 Redhawks earned a 4.0 GPA for the quarter, while 60% of the student athletes recorded a GPA between a 3.5-4.0.
