SEATTLE – Seattle University continues to soar above the national average in Graduation Success Rate (GSR), extending its streak of academic excellence with a 94 percent GSR in the most recent data released by the NCAA.

The most recent GSR data is based on the students entering freshmen classes in Division I from 2013 through 2016.

Seattle U has tallied at least a 92 percent in every multi-year report since 2008. In addition, the Redhawks' single-year (2016 cohort) GSR was a perfect 100 percent for the first time in school history as all 16 sports posted a single-year GSR of 100 percent.

Eight teams, including men's basketball, women's basketball, men's swimming, women's swimming, women's cross country/track & field, women's rowing, women's golf and softball each claimed perfect 100 percent scores for the multi-year cohort.

Eleven total Redhawk programs were over 92 percent while all 16 reached the 80 percent threshold.

Women's golf has perfect scores in nine consecutive reports, while women's cross country/track & field has an eight-year streak at 100 percent. Women's basketball, rowing and women's swimming are on a four-year streak at 100 percent, while men's basketball has been at 100 percent for three consecutive years.

GSR data indicates the number of student athletes earning a degree within six years. The NCAA developed the GSR to more accurately assess the academic success of student athletes. The GSR includes transfer students and student athletes who leave in good academic standing, unlike the federal rate, which does not count transfers. The GSR also accounts for mid-year enrollees and is calculated for every sport.
