OREM, Utah – Utah Valley hit 14-of-15 free-throw chances down the stretch of Wednesday night's Western Athletic Conference opener, rallying past Seattle U men's basketball in a 78-72 final at the UCCU Center in Orem, Utah.

The Redhawks held a 25-24 halftime lead, and Cameron Tyson's seventh three of the night put Seattle U (4-3, 0-1 WAC) in the lead, 61-59, with 4:27 to play. But a pair of untimely turnovers, two UVU offensive rebounds and the slew of free throw opportunities pushed the home team to its 10th consecutive home win.

Tyson finished with a game-high 23 points, hitting on 8-16 FGs, including 7-12 from beyond the arc. Alex Schumacher had 21 points and seven assists. Brandton Chatfield added 10 points, six rebounds and four assists.

The Wolverines (5-2, 1-0 WAC) were paced by Caleb Stone-Carrawell's 20 points. Jaden McClanahan had 19 and Trevin Darius added 16 for the home side.

All told, UVU earned 13 more trips to the charity stripe, hitting 30-38 on the night. The Redhawks went 14-19 from the line.

Seattle U return home Saturday to close out the early-season conference stint, hosting Southern Utah in a 3 p.m. tip at the Redhawk Center.
