Redhawks Feast on Vandals

SEATTLE – Behind career performances from Kobe Williamson, Brandton Chatfield and Alex Schumacher, Seattle U men's basketball rolled into Thanksgiving with a convincing 92-55 win over visiting Idaho Wednesday night in the Redhawk Center.

SEATTLE – Behind career performances from Kobe Williamson, Brandton Chatfield and Alex Schumacher, Seattle U men's basketball rolled into Thanksgiving with a convincing 92-55 win over visiting Idaho Wednesday night in the Redhawk Center.

Williamson poured in a career-high 28 points, Chatfield matched his career-high of 18 and Schumacher dished a career-high 11 dimes as the Redhawks moved to 3-2 on the season.

Tyson Rose had 12 points and Quinn Denker added 10 for the Vandals (2-3) who are led by first-year head coach Alex Pribble, who spent the past four seasons on staff at Seattle U.

A 19-0 Redhawk run early in the game opened up a 31-9 advantage at the 9:37 mark. Seattle U never looked back.

After shooting a stellar 60% from the field in the first half, the Redhawks hit at a 65% clip in the second. They knocked down 11-21 from three for the game and dominated the paint, outscoring the Vandals, 44-28.

The spread ballooned to as many as 42 before settling for the final 37-point spread.

The Redhawks were able to empty the bench as 11 total players saw the court. Freshman Malek Gomma converted his first collegiate field goals, finishing with seven points and three rebounds. 

Seattle U returns to action on Sunday, hosting UC San Diego in a 3 p.m. tip-off from the Redhawk Center.
