STEPHENVILLE, TX - Seattle U women's soccer extended their winning streak to four on Sunday, shutting out Tarleton, 3-0, in Texas. Savannah Singleton had a big day, scoring a goal and helping set up another in the win over the Texans.
"This was a great weekend for us," said head coach Julie Woodward post game. "We didn't start super strong and was very proud of the team for the second half turn around."
The Redhawks and Texans did battle to a 0-0 score line after the first 45, with Seattle U out shooting Tarleton 8-2.
Caroline Penner opened the score book in the second half, scoring her third in as many games at the 67' mark. That was followed by a lightning fast second goal, this time on a cross that floated into the net from Singleton, just 30 seconds later.
Kailee Wilson would put the bow on top of another Redhawk win in the 89', the freshman's third on the campaign.
Paired with a big offensive day was another stellar showing from the Redhawk defense, who secured another shutout. Seattle U has only allowed one goal during their 4-game winning streak and have now picked up six clean sheets in 2023.
"We had some special performances and energy off the bench that changed the game for us," Woodward added. "Kait Raffensperger, and the rest of our backline continue to be so solid.
Nina, Jordan, and savannah had a very special game for us, I was also very impressed with Emma, who made the most of her minutes quickly giving us an assist for our third goal. Looking forward to our week of training and getting back after it next week."
The Redhawks now improve to 6-8-1 on the season and to 4-2 in conference play. The win also keeps them in second place, right behind their next opponent in Utah Valley.
