ARLINGTON, TX - Kassidy Kirgan of Seattle U women's soccer has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for the week ending on 9/30.
"Kassidy had a great weekend for us," said head coach Julie Woodward. "Her and our backline have been playing really well together. She just keeps getting better every day and is always looking for the opportunity to improve and challenge herself. I am really impressed with the confidence she displays as a freshman and I look forward to seeing her keep growing."
Kirgan helped lead the Redhawks to a 2-0 week at home, getting 2-0 shutouts over UTRGV and Stephen F. Austin. Despite only making two official saves, the keeper from Missoula, MT commanded the box and did not allow crosses our through balls to find the feet of attacking players. She now has 46 saves and five shutouts to her credit this season.
This is the first Player of the Week nomination for Kirgan and the first weekly honor of the season for the Redhawks.
Kirgan and SU will be back in action this Thursday, Oct. 5, when they travel to Texas to face Abiline Christian. Kickoff between the Redhawks and Wildcats is scheduled for 5pm PT with the match being broadcast live on ESPN+.
