SEATTLE, Wash. - Seattle U women's soccer completed a 2-0 homestand, defeating Stephen F. Austin, 2-0, Sunday afternoon at Championship Field. The Redhawks outshot the Lady Jacks 28-3 and Caroline Penner picked up a brace in the victory.

"As much as we would have liked to have scored in the second half, we were pleased with the overall performance of the team today," said head coach Julie Woodward. "Getting two shutouts on the weekend was huge and well deserved for our backline who have been playing very well. It is also very nice to see Penner healthy and finding her form. We are excited to have a day off and get back at it next weekend in Texas".

Penner wasted no time putting her stamp on the match, scoring her first goal just two minutes and 10 seconds into the match when she finished off a cross from Daniella Smathers. 20 minutes later, she would get the brace when a rocket off her foot just inside of the box snuck in the far post to give the Redhawks the 2-0 lead. It's the first two goals of the new season for Penner, who scored four in her freshman campaign last season.

With a two-goal advantage, the Redhawks deployed their signature lock down defense to secure the victory. SU allowed only three shots from SFA and only one of them were on frame for Kassidy Kirgan to corral. Kirgan now has back-to-back shutouts and five total on the season. The defense has also now given up one or fewer goals in nine of their 13 matches this season.

Match Timeline: The win improves the Redhawks to 4-8-1 on the season and to 2-2 in conference play. They now have a 3-game road swing ahead of them, with stops at Abilene Christian (10/5), Tarleton (8), and at Utah Valley (10/14).
