ARLINGTON, TX - Kait Raffensperger has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Defender of the Week for the week ending on 10/9.
"We are super happy Kait is finally getting the recognition she deserves," said head coach Julie Woodward. "She has been such a solid presence and main stay for us in the back line all year. She has played every single minute of every game, is such a complete a player, and a great leader. Her soccer IQ is through the roof, and her athleticism and skill set are just so impressive."
The junior defender from Redmond helped lead the Redhawks to a 2-0 road trip through Texas this past weekend. The backline helped secure another shutout victory on Sunday, defeating Traleton 3-0. It was the teams sixth clean sheet of the season, all of which Raffensperger has started in. She also scored a goal in Seattle U's 2-1 win over Abilene Christian on Thursday, her second of the season.
This is the second Defender of the Week honor for Raffensperger and her first of the season. She joins Kassidy Kirgan (keeper) as Redhawks to win the weekly honor this season.
The Redhawks will be back in action this Saturday, October 14, when they travel to Orem to face conference leading Utah Valley. Kickoff is scheduled 5pm PT.
