SEATTLE - Ballard High School honored Seattle U Athletics Hall of Fame member, Sue (Stimac) Verduin '83, last Saturday, naming their annual Woman of Impact Award after the women's basketball alum.

The award recognizes an individual who exhibits extraordinary contributions to Ballard High School benefiting current students and the wider community. Named after its first honoree, the award celebrates the tremendous accomplishments of Sue Stimac Verduin on and off the court, setting the bar high for what future Beavers will aspire to accomplish.

One of the first stars of the women's basketball program, Sue (Stimac) Verduin became the first female basketball player to earn All-America honors at Seattle U. She is third all-time in scoring with 1,675 points, making 730-of-1639 field goal attempts. She also pulled down 738 career rebounds and dished out 300 assists. She set the single-season scoring record during the 1980–81 season with 566 points, a mark that would stand for eight years and is still the sixth-most points in a season. She averaged a double-double in her senior year (20.2 ppg and 10.5 rpg).

The current Seattle U women's basketball team and staff was in attendance to celebrate the honoring of the Seattle U Athletics Hall of Fame member.
