CHENEY, WA-- Seattle U's women's tennis team will open their 2023-2024 season at the Eastern Washington Tournament in Cheney, WA beginning on October 6th and concluding on October 8th. The tournament is hosted by Eastern Washington University, and will begin at 9 a.m on Friday.
The Redhawks welcome three new team members, freshmen Yuna Kadowaki, Anastasia Nikolova, and Lamija Avdic. Kadowaki, from Nishinomiya-shi, Japan, was both a singles and doubles champion at Hyogo Pref. Junior tennis tournament in March 2022. Nikolova joins the team from Varna, Bulgaria, and was the Bulgarian National Team champion in the under 16 category, and the runner up in the under 18 category. Avdic is a local addition to the team, coming from Kirkland, WA, and she has won multiple USTA PNW Sectionals and National L2's Championships.
The Redhawks hope to open their season on a high note at the Eastern Washington tournament, before traveling to Palo Alto, CA to compete in the ITA Fall Regionals Tournament beginning on October 13th and concluding on October 17th.
