SEATTLE, Wash. - Seattle U women's soccer dropped their matchup with Portland, 0-1, Thursday afternoon at Championship Field. After a scoreless opeing 45, the Redhawks conceeded a late go ahead goal to the Pilots that proved to be the difference.
"Overall, I was impressed with our game today," said head coach Julie Woodward. "We did not get the result we wanted, but we saw so many good things. Overall our posession of the ball was pretty good. I thought we out played them the second half and created a few great chances. With all of the injuries we have faced it is so incredible to see the efforts of players like Sarah Creighton, stepping up and making the most of her opportunity".
The Redhawks put on a full out effort late in the match to try and find the equalizer, even moving Kait Raffensperger up top from here usual back line spot. Seattle U earned several late corners but were not able to break through, as they dropped the home matchup.
SU will close out their home stand by welcoming cross town rivals Washington to Championship Field on Sunday. Kickoff between the Redhawks and Huskies is scheduled for 5pm PT and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
