ARLINGTON, TX - James Morris has been named the Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week and Jaden Manetta has been named Defensive Player of the Week. The awards come in after the Redhawks completed a 2-0 road trip through California.
"Happy for James and Jaden," said head coach Nate Daligcon. "Both of them had two solid performances which contributed to a successful road trip for the team."
Morris has started the season red hot after missing most of the 2022 season due to injury. The forward from England scored three goals over the past weekend, including a brace in a thrilling 3-2 win over UC Davis on Sunday. His two goals vs the Aggies also pushed him into the top-5 all-time for goals scored in Redhawk program history. It is the second time Morris has been named player of the week, with the first coming back in the week of Oct. 21 of 2019.
Manetta was a part of a Redhawk defense that did not allow a goal in the run of play over the two-game road trip. The junior defender played all 180 minutes over the weekend, including a shutout performance over Cal State Fullerton on Thursday. It is the first player of the week selection for Manetta.
Morris and Manetta will be back in action this Thursday, Sept. 7, when the Redhawks host Oregon State at Championship Field. Kickoff between the Redhawks and Beavers is scheduled for 7pm PT.
