SEATTLE, Wash. - Seattle U women's soccer got back into the win column, taking down UTRGV, 2-0, Thursday night in their WAC home opener. Freshman Kailee Wilson led the offensive charge, scoring the game-winner and adding an assist.

"I thought the team played a complete 90 minutes today," said head coach Julie Woodward. "They really executed the game plan very well. Getting special performances from Nina and Dani when they came in to the game, really changed the momentum. I thought Kacey Laboda also did a great job of getting forward in our attack. I am extremely happy we scored a goal in each half and got the shut out. That is a huge credit to our backline."

Wilson found the back of the net in the 37' for the opener. A cross from Hallie Bergford came off the Vaquero keeper's gloves and fell to the foot of Wilson. After having her initial effort saved, she was able to follow up the with another shot that found its way to the back of the net. It was the second goal of the season for Wilson and gave SU the 1-0 halftime advantage.

Less than ten minutes into the second half the Redhawks would double their lead off the same combination of players as the first. This time Wilson would send a cross into the box that Bergford was able to redirect into the net. It was tally number one of the season for Bergford and the eighth of her career.

Match Timeline:  The Redhawk defense made sure keeper Kassidy Kirgan would only be called on to make one save on the night, as she was credited with her third win of the season and the fourth shutout of her career.

The win moves the Redhawks to 3-8-1 on the season and to 1-2 in conference play. They will be back in action this Sunday when they host Stephen F. Austin at Championship Field. Kickoff between the Redhawks and Lumberjacks is scheduled for noon.
