PULLMAN, WASH. - Seattle U women's soccer (2-6-1) dropped their matchup with Washington State, 1-2, Thursday night in Pullman. After trailing 0-2 at the half, a Kait Raffensperger PK in the second half sparked a rally that just fell short.

"I was incredibly proud of our resiliency and not giving up being down 0-2 at half," said head coach Julie Woodward. "Different people continue to step up."

Raffensperger's goal in the 74th moved Seattle U to a perfect 4-for-4 on the season in penalty conversions, but the Redhawks could not find the equalizer in the remaining 15 minutes of action as they dropped the in state battle.

"It was our second game in a row with a higher expected goals than a Pac-12 opponent which is something we like to see," Woodward added. "We knew WSU would take a lot of shots from distance and we were ok with that. We just need to clean up our play in the final 1/3 on both ends."

Match Timeline:  "We love the reset of going into conference at 0-0," Woodward said of the non-conference season ending. "I really love the team and am proud of our preseason. I am also very excited to see what we can accomplish."

The Redhawks will have a week off before they are back in action on Thursday, Sep. 21, in Phoenix to battle Grand Canyon. Kickoff in the WAC opener is scheduled for 7pm PT.
