SEATTLE, Wash. - Seattle U women's soccer ended their WAC/101 Cup matchup with Washington in a scoreless draw Sunday night at Championship Field.

"I was incredibly proud of the team's effort today," said head coach Julie Woodward. "Our back line defended incredibly well, and I thought so many individuals really stepped up today. Caroline Penner had a special performance in her first game in a while."

The standout on the night was the defensive effort by the Redhawks. Led by a stellar performance by Kacey LaBoda, the Redhawk back line shut down a Husky attack that scored 10 total goals in their previous three games. Kassidy Kirgan also recorded another shutout in her young career, making three saves and collecting several cross attempts from Washington.

Seattle U had a couple big chances off the foot of Penner offensively. In the 52' she rocketed a shot off the crossbar and then in the 81' her shot just missed to the left of frame.

"Between Thursday's game and today's game the team has played the best soccer they have played all season," Woodward added. "I thought we were all over them the second half and was so surprised at how fresh and fast the team looked knowing we played a game on Thursday and UW was fresh. Really proud of the team and their effort."

Match Timeline: It was the second time in the series history that Seattle U was able to take a point away from a matchup with Washington. Their last result came in 2019, also a 0-0 draw.

The Redhawks will see another in state rival next, as they travel to Pullman to face Washington State on Thursday. Kickoff between the Redhawks and Cougars is scheduled for 7pm with the match being broadcast live on Pac-12 Washington.
