Ehrenfried, Heeman Join Sports Medicine Staff

SEATTLE – Seattle University Athletics has announced the addition of two new hires to its Sports Medicine staff, with Alyssa Ehrenfried and Jacqueline Heeman both joining as Athletics Trainers.

SEATTLE – Seattle University Athletics has announced the addition of two new hires to its Sports Medicine staff, with Alyssa Ehrenfried and Jacqueline Heeman both joining as Athletics Trainers. 

Ehrenfried joins Seattle U after spending the 2022-23 season working with the University of Washington and Galludet University in Washington, D.C. She will work directly with men's soccer and softball at Seattle U.

A 2022 graduate of the University of New England, Ehrenfried earned her Bachelor's of Science in Health Sciences of Athletic Training, before recently attaining her Masters of Science in Athletic Training. During her time at Washington, Ehrenfried worked primarily with the men's rowing and women's gymnastics and soccer teams. At Galludet University, Ehrenfried worked with their Deaf and Hard of Hearing football team, communicating with staff and student athletes in American Sign Language. 

"We are so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to bring Alyssa into the Redhawk family," said Director of Sports Medicine Sarah Pfau. "Along with her unique learning experiences, Alyssa brings a steady, assuring confidence along with a high aptitude for learning and growing as our department does. We know she will fit in great with our group and are very excited to see her bloom in this role."

Heeman makes the move to the Emerald City after spending three years at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash. She will work directly with men's and women's cross country and track and field. 

During her tenure with Gonzaga, Heeman worked primarily with men's soccer and women's tennis, cross country and track programs. A 2012 graduate of Washington State, Heeman earned her Bachelor's of Science degree in Athletic Training, while serving as an athletic training intern with the men's and women's cross country and track and field programs. Heeman later obtained her Master's in Public Administration with a concentration in Health Administration from Portland State in 2017, serving as the graduate assistant for athletic training for two years. Heeman spearheaded treatment and care for the volleyball team. 

Outside of collegiate athletics, Heeman has served as the Head Athletic Trainer for Scappose High School (2018-19) and Scottsdale Christian Academy (2013-15) and as the collaborative liaison at Providence Children's Health Services (2017-18).

"To say we are excited about Jackie would be an understatement," said Pfau. "Jackie comes to us with a wealth of clinical experience, making impactful stops at Portland, WSU and most recently Gonzaga. Between these, she did stints at high schools and clinical settings which exemplify her ability to effectively communicate and follow up with multiple parities about complicated cases. Along with being a phenomenal person, she knows what it takes to align with our healthcare team and maintain the highest quality of care on many levels."
