ARLINGTON, Texas - Junior Kait Raffensperger was named to the 2023 Preseason All-WAC Team, as announced by the Western Athletic Conference on Thursday.
It is the first preseason selection for Raffensperger, who is coming off another great season of helping anchor a stiff Redhawk defense. She appeared in 17 of 20 matches last season, helping secure 9 clean sheets. Her performance earned her Second Team All-WAC at the conclusion of the 2022 season.
"We are excited but not surprised to see Kait on the pre-season all conference team," said head coach Julie Woodward. "She has continued to grow and develop as an impact player and leader for our team. She had a very solid year last fall. We are looking forward to seeing what she accomplishes this current fall season."
Also being released was the 2023 Preseason Coaches' Poll, where the Redhawks were selected 3rd. Seattle U received one first place vote and came behind Grand Canyon (2) and last season's regular season champion Utah Valley (7).
The Redhawks kick off the 2023 campaign on the road when they travel to Idaho to take on the Vandals on Thursday, August 17. They will have their home opener a week later when San Diego comes to town in a double header that features men's soccer as well.
