EUGENE, OR - Freshman Miguel Rosario III will be competing in the 100m at the U20 Track & Field Championship on Saturday, July 8, in Eugene. He will be the first athlete to represent the Redhawk program at the U20 Championships.
Rosario qualified for the Championships by running personal bests while winning both the 100m (10.60) and 200m (21.18) in an Open meet back on June 29, also down in Eugene at Hayward Field. The 10.60 in the 100m sits #2 all-time (10.59 is the SR) and the 21.18 in the 200m is a new school record. Both better his personal bests of 10.66 (100m) and 21.53 (200m) he had run earlier this spring.
The U20 Championships take the top 18 declared in each event. Rosario finished just two spots out in the 200m. His finish on the 29th didn't count towards qualifying as it was out of the window to get a qualifying mark.
The prelims and finals will both be held on Saturday for the 100m. The full event schedule can be found on USATF.org, with the live stream link also being found on the site.
