KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the sixth consecutive year, Seattle University men's basketball has earned the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award. In addition, a record 11 Redhawks were named to the NABC Honors Court.

The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize men's basketball programs that completed the 2022-23 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2022-23 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.

The Redhawks compiled a 3.418 team GPA for the 2022-23 academic year, including an impressive 3.709 team GPA during the spring quarter. Seattle U was one of three WAC programs to make the list along with California Baptist and Utah Tech. The 11 Redhawks honored marked the most among WAC schools, which combined for 26 honorees.

Brandton Chatfield, Paris Dawson, Riley Grigsby, Matthew Levis, Jaren Nafarrete, Vasja Pandža, Viktor Rajkovic, Seyi Reiley, Alex Schumacher, Cameron Tyson and Kobe Williamson all took home the Honors Court recognition. This marked a third straight honor for Grigsby while Chatfield and Nafarrete earned the honor for the second straight year. Dawson, Levis, Pandža, Rajkovic, Reiley Schumacher and Williamson were all first-time honorees as each was academically a junior in 2022-23. Tyson also earned the honor first the first time.

This marks the fifth consecutive year that multiple Redhawks have been named to the NABC Honors Court. Six players were honored in 2021-22, three players were honored in 2020-21, four were honored in 2019-20 and two players were honored in 2018-19.

Over 1,800 players earned spots on the NABC Honors Court and over 300 programs received NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards for 2022-23. A full list of Honors Court recipients is available by clicking here.
