SEATTLE, WA - Seattle U women's soccer has finalized their schedule for the 2023 season, as announced by head coach Julie Woodward. The Redhawks will host 10 regular season matches at Championship Field, while a 9-game conference slate awaits them in a new look Western Athletic Conference.
"We are really pleased with our fall schedule," said Woodward. "Our preseason games consist of many top teams in extremely strong conferences."
Seattle U will open the 2023 campaign by hosting a pair of exhibition games vs British Columbia and Oregon State in early August. Their first regular season bouts will see them on a road trip to Idaho (8/17) and Portland State (8/20). They then return home for a 6-match home stand that will see the likes of San Diego (8/24), Yale (9/3), and cross-town rivals Washington (9/10). The Redhawks will end the non-conference schedule when they travel down to Pullman for a matchup with Washington State on September 14.
"The opportunity to play teams like Santa Clara, Washington State, Yale, San Diego, and Washington prior to conference play starting is helpful," Woodward added. "This prepares us to be successful in a very competitive conference."
Like the opening to non-conference, a road swing awaits the Redhawks to open WAC play as they travel to Phoenix to face Grand Canyon (9/21) before heading to the Golden State for a battle with California Baptist (9/24). The Vaqueros of UTRGV await SU upon their return to Championship Field on Thursday, Sep. 28. In addition, Stephen F. Austin (10/1), Southern Utah (10/19), and Utah Tech (10/22) will all make the trip to the Pacific Northwest this season.
The 2023 WAC tournament will be hosted by California Baptist starting Sunday, Oct. 29.
