BELLEVUE, WA - Seattle U baseball couldn't keep pace with their crosstown rivals, falling to Washington at home, 4-9, Tuesday afternoon. Both sides used the long ball to power their offenses, but a scoreless stretch from the Redhawks proved to be the difference.
Seattle U had all their runs driven in by Matt Boissoneault and Cameron Dayton. Boissoneault got the scoring started with a solo home run in the second, before Dayton got ahold of one the following inning. Boissoneault would drive in another in the 3rd on a single, as the Redhawks evened the score at the time, 3-3.
Boissoneault's home run in the 1st, broke the single season record (9) in the program's history (since 2010). It also tied him for the all-time mark for a Redhawk career (20), with Dalton Hurd.
From there, the offense would be held in check by the Huskies, while the visitors would go on to score six unanswered to take the lead.
Dayton would try to spark a rally in the 9th, where he hit his second home run of the day, but that would be all the Redhawks would get as they fell at home.
The loss drops the Redhawks to 15-26 on the season. They turn their attention back to Western Athletic Conference play, as they travel to Las Cruces for a 3-game series with New Mexico State starting on Friday, May 5.
