MESA, AZ - Seattle U baseball fell in their Western Athletic Conference tournament game, 3-11, Wednesday morning vs UT Arlington. The loss was the second for the Redhawks in the tournament, eliminating them and ending their 2023 campaign.
"The season definitely did not end the way we had planned," said head coach Donny Harrel. "We got exposed down here by better baseball."
Seattle U trailed the entirety of the game. They cut it to a 2-run deficit in the 2nd on an RBI single from Ryne Hays, but that would be the closest the game would get as the Redhawks were eliminated from the tournament.
Despite the loss, eight different Redhawks recorded a hit. Matt Boissoneault, Trevor Antonson, Grant Heiser, and Hays all had multi hit mornings.
Nestor German was credited with the loss on the hill, going 2 2/3 with five earned runs. Cameron Dayton, Mason Hoover, and Luke Alwood all made relief appearances in the game as well.
"Very proud of the teams regular season finish, but it's not about just making the tourney, but about winning while we are here," Harrel added. We need to get more horses in the stable to have greater success here, so the work begins right away. Very proud of the senior class and the men they have become while being in the system. They will all have successful lives and made a huge impact on the program."
The loss has the 2023 season come to an end with a record of 21-32. The 21 wins was their highest total since the 34-win season of 2018.
