Cogswell, Gill and Rahon Claim All-WAC Honors

ARLINGTON, Texas - Seattle U men's golf graduate students Nathan Cogswell and Jack Rahon as well as sophomore Liam Gill were among those honored by the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) on Tuesday as the league unveiled its 2023 postseason awards. Cogswell concludes his historic career with his third consecutive All-WAC First Team award, while Rahon picks up his second straight All-WAC Second Team and Gill joins him on the second team for the first time in his career.

ARLINGTON, Texas - Seattle U men's golf graduate students Nathan Cogswell and Jack Rahon as well as sophomore Liam Gill were among those honored by the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) on Tuesday as the league unveiled its 2023 postseason awards. Cogswell concludes his historic career with his third consecutive All-WAC First Team award, while Rahon picks up his second straight All-WAC Second Team and Gill joins him on the second team for the first time in his career. 

Cogswell finishes his historic career having set the record for best career scoring average (72.81), par or better rounds (57) and made birdies (462) as well as best single-season scoring average (71.76), national rating (215), finish percentage (75.8%), birdies (114), par four scoring (4.0852) and par five scoring (4.6337). The native of Kent, Washington, also holds the record for lowest round versus par (eight-under 63) and lowest 54 hole total (14-under, 202). 

Cogswell became the fourth Redhawk to win an individual event and first to ever claim medalist honors at the WAC Championship last season. The graduate student has recorded seven career finishes inside the top-five and another five inside the top-10.

Rahon wrapped up his career with his fifth career top-five finish, taking fifth overall at the 2023 WAC Championship with a three-round total of nine-under 207 (72-67-68). The graduate student ended the three-day event tied for third in made birdies (16), tied for sixth on the par fours in average (3.97) and scoring (one-under) and tied for seventh on the par fives in average (4.25) and scoring (nine-under). 

Rahon ranks as one of the all-time best at Seattle U, holding the second best career scoring average (73.14), made birdies (390) and third most par or better rounds (47) and finish percentage (63.8%). The Orange, California, native recorded the most par or better rounds (18) and set the second best single-season scoring average (72.31) and third most made birdies (111).

Gill saw significant improvement to his game during his sophomore campaign, recording the best single-season scoring on par three (3.0865) and third best single-season scoring average (72.54). The native of Wayland, Mass., marked his best-career finish earlier in the season, tying for ninth out of 93 golfers at the Nick Watney Invitational with a three-round total of four-under 209 (72-69-68). 

This year's awards were based on a weighted average of pre-championship Golfstat (30%) and Golfweek (30%) rankings, pre-championships adjusted scoring average (30%) and one's placement at the WAC Championship tournament (10%). 2023 WAC Men's Golf Season Awards
