BELLEVUE, Wash. - Seattle U baseball rides hot offense and solid performances on the mound in game one win over Abilene Christian, 9-2, Thursday afternoon at Bannerwod Park. Peter Chronowski went six solid innings in his start, while the offense put up nine runs on 12 hits in the series opener.
For Chronowski it was his 13th start and fifth win of the season. He gave up just two runs on six hits through his six full innings. Blake Smith and Mason Hoover combined to pitch the final three innings, only allowing one run.
Behind the performance of the arms was an explosive offense. Matt Boissoneault got the party started with a solo home run in the bottom of the 1st. Then in a 2-2 game, Jackson Lind got ahold of a 2-run shot over the right field wall for his sixth on the campaign. Seven different Redhawks recorded a hit, with Lind leading the way in RBI with three.
The win moves Seattle U to 20-29 on the season, but also moves them into sole possession of the 4th seed in the WAC standings at a 16-12 mark. The Redhawks, who have already clinched a spot in next week's conference tournament, will need to win the series to get a first-round bye.
Both sides will be right back in action tomorrow at 2pm for game two of the series. Nestor German will make his 14th and final regular season start on the mound as SU looks to take their 7th straight conference series.
