ST GEORGE, UT - Seattle U baseball dropped game three of their series with Utah Tech, 8-12, Sunday in Utah. The Redhawks couldn't keep up with the offensive output of the Trailblazers, but still come away with another series win.
"Bad day for us on the mound and defensively," head coach Donny Harrel said. "Gave them way too many free bases and our offense could not catch up. Got to get back to work this week and get ready for Abiline."
The Redhawks had a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the 3rd, but a five spot from the Trailblazers in their half gave them a lead that they would not relinquish for the remainder of the ballgame.
Seattle U would make a comeback in the 8th, putting up 2-runs on a double from Cameron Dayton, cutting the deficit to one. Once again Utah Tech would respond, scoring three more of their own to take the final game.
Despite the loss, the Redhawks out hit the Trailblazers 16-10, with nine different players recording a hit. Hudson Shupe, Matt Boissoneault and Dayton all had three hits. One of Boissoneault's hits came on a long home run over the left field wall, his record extending 12th of the season.
Six different pitches had a stint on the mound for SU, with Luke Alwood being credited with the loss. Combined only 10 hits were allowed from the Redhawk arms, but eight walks surrenderd proved costly.
Now sitting at 19-29 and 15-12 in conference, the Redhawks turn focus to their final regular season series of the season when they host Abiliene Christian starting Friday, May 19, at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue.
