ST GEORGE, UT - Seattle U baseball held on in game two of their series with Utah Tech, defeating the Trailblazers, 7-5, Saturday afternoon in Utah. After building up a 6-run leed, the Redhawks survived a 9th inning rally to take the game and series.

"We did not play good baseball today, but Nestor just overpowered their offense to let us get away with some poor execution," head coach Donny Harrel said postgame.

Nestor German was indeed very strong on the mound today, going seven innings while on giving up one earned run for his 5th win of the season. He also recorded seven strikeouts on the day, moving him up to 8th in single-season strikeouts (66) in program history (since 2010).

Behind German was another solid day at the plate for the Redhawks. Eight different players recorded a hit, with Derek Gellos and Ryne Hays having multi-hit afternoons. Gellos went 3-for-5 with an RBI while Hays had two hits, including a solo homerun. Grant Heiser followed up his two double performance in yesterday's game with another today, this time knocking in two runs on a standup double.

Heading into the ninth with a 6-run lead, SU had to hold on to the game as the Trailblazers mounted a comeback. They would put up four runs in the frame, before Cameron Dayton struck out the final batter to secure the win.

"To win our sixth straight conference series is a remarkable accomplishment," coach Harrel added. "So very proud of our club for that. We need to play better baseball tomorrow."

They now improve to 19-28 overall and 15-11 in conference play. The Redhawks will now look to complete their first sweep of the season tomorrow, in a 11:05am PT first pitch game.
