ARLINGTON, Texas – Tai Wilson of Seattle U softball has been named the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Hitter of the Week, for the game week ending on Saturday, May 6.
Wilson enjoyed a spectacular weekend at the plate, hitting eight-for-11 (.727) with one double, five runs scored and three RBIs. The Fairfield, California, native went three-for-four in both contests of the doubleheader against California Baptist on Friday, providing what would be the winning run on an RBI single in the series opener. Wilson concluded the weekend with a multi-hit game on Saturday, recording a sacrifice fly in the fourth and an RBI double in the sixth in what would be a commanding, 8-1, win for the Redhawks.
This marks the sophomore's first career WAC Hitter of the Week award and the team's second of the season. Jocelynn De La Cruz was the last Redhawk to earn the award after her strong performance at the Judi Garman Classic in early March.
The Redhawks are currently on a six game winning streak after sweeping both Utah Valley and California Baptist over the last two weekends.
Seattle U heads to the 2023 WAC Tournament this weekend as the #4 seed, taking on the winner of #5 Tarleton and #8 California Baptist at 7 p.m. in Phoenix.
