SEATTLE, Wash. - Elena Kraleva and Liliya Dimova have been named the WAC Doubles Players of the Week, the conference announced today.
"Liliya and Elena had a solid weekend against strong teams" said Head Coach Kristina Hollander. "Their wins are a confirmation that they are one of the strongest doubles teams in the WAC conference. I'm very happy for them!"
Dimova and Kraleva earned the award after a stellar weekend against UTRGV and UT Arlington that the duo was undefeated in while playing at the number one position. In the match against UTRGV, Kraleva and Dimova dominated their match against Isabelle Bahr and Marjorie Souza, taking the win 6-2.
In the match against UT Arlington, Dimova and Kraleva had another dominant win, as they took down Tora Goriness and Ana Paula Jimenez 6-2 and helped the Redhawks secure the doubles point in a close 4-3 win for the Redhawks.
Dimova and Kraleva have had solid play against conference competition, as they are 3-2 together against WAC competitors. Kraleva also earned WAC Singles Player of the Week last week as she had a great showing against Utah Tech, which also included a big win for Kraleva and Dimova against the Trailblazer duo of Rachel Mellor and Annemiek Sterk.
This is the third WAC weekly award for the Redhawks. Dimova, Kraleva, and the women's team will look to carry the positive momentum against Stephen F Austin and Sam Houston in their dual matches on April 6 and April 8, respectively.
