SEATTLE, WA - Seattle U baseball took care of business at home, defeating Tarleton, 6-4, Sunday afternoon at Bannerwood Park. The Redhawks got a solid start on the mound from Luke Alwood and the offense continued to pick up timely hits as they snagged 2-of-3 from the Texans.
"Good baseball game," head coach Donny Harrel said post game. "Good pitching, timely hitting and solid defense. Proud of our guys sticking it out for nine innings to win a much needed series."
Alwood was able to pick up his second win of the season, going five innings and allowing just three earned runs. Blake Smith came on in relief to start the 6th and finished the game off. He struck out five and gave up one run on the way to his second save conversion of the year.
The Redhawk offense also had a great day at the plate, scoring six runs for the second day in a row. Trevor Antonson and Kai Alberghini both recorded RBI triples on the day, while Cameron Dayton and Hudson Shupe led the team with two RBI each.
Seattle U has now won every home conference series this season and have won five of their last 6 WAC series. The win moves the Redhawks to 15-25 on the season and to 11-10 in conference. They also moved two spots up in the WAC standings, now in 6th with three more series left in the regular season.
Another midweek matchup now awaits the Redhawks, as they host the Washington Huskies on Tuesday, May 2, at Bannerwood. First pitch between the crosstown foes is scheduled for 4pm PT.
