BELLEVUE, WA - Seattle U baseball rode a great performance on the mound from Nestor German, taking down Tarleton, 6-4, Saturday afternoon at Bannerwood. The Redhawks jumped out to an early lead and survived a late rally by the Texans to even up the series.

"Nothing like a little excitement at Bannerwood," head coach Donny Harrel said after the win. "German was top notch today and dominated his innings."

In his eleventh start of the season, German went seven innings while only giving up two hits and no runs. He added eight strikeouts to his tally and gave up just one walk to move to 4-4 on the season.

German got run support from his offense early, as the Redhawks scored five of their six runs in the first three innings. Matt Boissoneault would bring in two of the Redhawks runs, hitting an RBI double in the 1st, before beating out an infield RBI single in the 6th. Trevor Antonson would help bring in two more in the 2nd with a single to left field that scored Ryne Hays, but a throwing error by the Texans also allowed Cameron Dayton to score on the play.

With a 6-0 lead in hand, Seattle U had to withstand a Tarleton rally in the late innings. The Texans scored four in the 8th, then had the bases loaded in the 9th before Mason Hoover got a strikeout and fly out for the final outs. It was the second save of the season for Hoover as the Redhawks secured the win.

"Crazy ending but Hoover got us through it," Harrel added of the dramatic ending. "Big win and need to come highly focused tomorrow to win the series."

Luke Alwood is scheduled to start the game tomorrow, with the Redhawks looking to win their 4th straight home WAC series, and their fifth in the last six overall in conference. First pitch from Bannerwood is scheduled for 12pm PT.
