Track and Field Returns to California for Long Beach Invite/Bryan Clay Invite

AZUSA, Calif. - Seattle U track and field return to California to compete at the Long Beach Invitational, hosted by Long Beach State, and the Bryan Clay Invitational, hosted by Azusa Pacific. The Long Beach Invitational will take place April 14-15 at the Jack Rose Track in Long Beach, Califorina, with events starting at 12:00 PM PST. AZUSA, Calif. - Seattle U track and field return to California to compete at the Long Beach Invitational, hosted by Long Beach State, and the Bryan Clay Invitational, hosted by Azusa Pacific. The Long Beach Invitational will take place April 14-15 at the Jack Rose Track in Long Beach, Califorina, with events starting at 12:00 PM PST. The Redhawks are coming off of impressive performances set at the Mike Faneli Track Classic and Stanford Invitational two weeks ago. True freshman Jamaari Jefferson led the way for the Redhawks by setting the school record in the long jump. Jefferson notched a mark of 6.90m in the long jump, setting the school record in his first meet with the Redhawks. Jefferson also beat the record by an astounding .40 meters.

Grad transfer Hezekiah Goodwin also had a solid performance in the 3000m steeplechase at the Stanford Invite. Goodwin clocked in a time of 9:24.79, and is now ranked third in school history in the event.

At the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, true freshman Miguel Rosario III continued to shine, as he placed first in the 100m Dash, finishing in 10.68 seconds. Rosario is now tied for second in school history with teammate Isaiah Payne.

Kavon Holden also had a top-ten mark in school history in the 100m, as he finished in 11.05 seconds, making him seventh in school history in the event.

Jocelyn Garcia got herself on the top-ten list in two events this weekend. The true freshman clocked in times of 17.20 seconds in the 100 hurdles and 1:11.67 In the 400 hurdles to put herself tenth and eighth in school history, respectively. Livii Fetterley also got herself on the top-ten list in the 100 hurdles, as she finished in 16.03 seconds to place herself sixth overall.

Taylor Marks and Reyna Dismukes got themselves on the top-ten list for the 100m, as they finished in 12.80 and 12.85 to put themselves seventh and ninth on the top-ten list respectively. 

In the triple jump, Shannon Sadler jumped a mark of 10.84 seconds to place herself eighth on the SU top-ten list.
