LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Seattle U women's basketball completed a historic comeback on Monday night, upsetting #6 UT Arlington, 80-78, in the first round of the 2023 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Tournament. Junior Peyton Howard knocked down two clutch free throws in the final four seconds to secure the upset.

"This was a tremendous team effort from our team," said Head Coach Suzy Barcomb. "This was a great experience for our young team and I am thrilled we get to play another day."

The Redhawks' comeback efforts started at the beginning of the fourth quarter, scoring nine straight points to make it a one score game. Seattle U would take its first lead since the second quarter after Asta Blauenfeldt hit the first of two consecutive three-pointers. The game came down to the wire, with both teams hitting their free throws before Howard went to the line.

"Asta's back-to-back threes were huge for us," said Barcomb. "Peyton really stepped up for us, knocking down those final two free throws."

Sophomore Taliyah Clark was the Redhawks leading scorer on the evening, finishing two shy of her career-high at 23 points to go along with seven rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal. Freshman Asta Blauenfeldt set a new career-high in scoring (14), while Howard chipped in 11 and both junior Irena Korolenko and sophomore Kari Kyrkjebo had eight.
