SEATTLE - Seattle U softball dropped the series opener against Sam Houston on Friday, falling 2-5, in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) matchup at Logan Field in Seattle. Graduate student Olivia Viggiano and senior Madison Kahwaty registered multi-hit games with both hitting a pair of singles.
After falling behind by a run, Seattle U took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Madison Kahwaty tied the score at one after smacking a ball up the middle with Tai Wilson on third after reaching by an error from the center fielder. Jocelynn De La Cruz immediately follow with a walk before Sydney Frankenberger laid down a perfectly placed sacrifice bunt to move the runners into scoring position. Kalyn Hill got the job done in the very next at bat, hitting a ball to deep right field that allowed Kahwaty to score on a sacrifice fly.

Stefanie Madrigal found her stuff early after allowing a run in the opening inning, sending down 12 of the next 14 Bearkats. Madrigal was able to get Sam Houston hitters to chase, recording four swing and miss strikeouts.
