Bellevue, Wash. - Seattle U baseball won a tight one over UT Arlington, 5-4, Friday morning at Bannerwood Park. After taking a lead in the 8th, the Redhawks had to pitch out of a jam to secure the win in the series opener vs the Mavericks.

Deadlocked at four heading into the bottom half of the 8th inning, Jackson Lind took matters into his own hand. Lind sent a screaming solo shot over the right field wall, his third homerun of the season, to put the Redhawks out front by one.

Lind's current hot streak now has him batting .341 while slugging an impressive .682. He is also now second on the team in RBI (15) and homeruns.

Now with the lead, Seattle U was 3-outs away from securing the series opener with UT Arlington. Luke Alwood, who came in during the 8th, trotted back out to begin the 9th. After the Mavericks loaded the bases with just 1-out, the Redhawks turned to Cameron Dayton to convert the save. Dayton faced two batters and struck them both out to close the game, 5-4.

"Big swing by Lind to give us the lead," said head coach Donny Harrel. "Really impressive job by Dayton to come in with the bases loaded and get the two big punch outs. Well fought game and hope we can ride the momentum into tomorrow."

For Dayton, it was his second save of the season, while Alwood was credited with his first career win. Peter Chronowski, who started the game, went six innings while giving up five hits and two earned runs with six strikeouts in his no-decision.
