Bellevue, Wash. - Seattle U baseball fell in a thriller of a ballgame to Oregon State, 5-6, Wednesday afternoon at Bannerwood Park. Holding a 1-run lead heading into the 9th, the Redhawks had the game slip through their fingers as they dropped the 1-game matchup with the Beavers.

After three innings of scoreless baseball from both sides to start the game, both offenses started to warm up. Oregon State snagged two runs in the top of the 4th to take the lead, one inning later the Redhawks would take their first lead on the day. Hudson Shupe picked up an RBI on a single that scored Trevor Antonson to make it 1-2. Michael Tsoukalas then stepped in as a pinch hitter and sent a towering 3-run homerun over the right field wall to give SU the advantage.

Oregon State would respond with their own homerun, this one a 2-run homerun, in the top of the 7th. With the ballgame level once again, the Redhawks reclaimed the lead on a Matt Boissoneault sac-fly in the bottom of the frame.

Kaden Alberghini would enter the game to begin the 8th, sitting down the Beaver batters in-order to keep the Redhawks out front. After Seattle U couldn't extend their lead in the bottom half, Alberghini came back out onto the mound to try and complete the 6-out save opportunity. Oregon State would lead off with a single but were down to two outs. They would then string a rally together that saw them score two runs and take the lead.

With their backs against the wall, the Redhawks would have two on with 2-outs in their final at bat, before a strikeout ended their hopes at a walk-off.

With the loss the Redhawks fall to 5-16 on the season and are now 3-4 at home. They will have a chance to quickly put the game behind them when they host a 3-game conference series with UT Arlington starting Friday, March 31.
