Cogswell Claims WAC Golfer of the Week

ARLINGTON, Texas - Seattle U men's golf graduate student Nathan Cogswell has been named Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men's Golfers of the Week, for the competition week ending on Tuesday, March 28, the WAC announced on Wednesday.

ARLINGTON, Texas - Seattle U men's golf graduate student Nathan Cogswell has been named Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men's Golfers of the Week, for the competition week ending on Tuesday, March 28, the WAC announced on Wednesday.

Cogswell logged his highest finish of the year at the UC San Diego Invitational, grabbing second place in a field of 83 golfers. The native of Kent, Washington, set a new Seattle U record for lowest total over 54 holes at 14-under 202 (68-68-66). Cogswell had previously set the record back during the 2019-20 season with a 10-under par 203 54 hole total at the Nick Watney Invitational in Fresno, California. 

The graduate student was phenomenal in all facets, placing second in par four scoring (four-under) and average (3.87) and tying for second in made birdies (17). Cogswell finished tied for second in par five scoring (nine-under) and average (4.25) and tied for fifth in par three scoring (one-under) and average (2.92). Cogswell earns his first WAC weekly award of the year and sixth career WAC weekly or monthly honor. 

Seattle U looks forward to hosting the ninth annual Redhawk Invitational next week, beginning Monday with rounds one and two at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Washington.
