Riverside, Calif. - Seattle U baseball once again couldn't dig themselves out of a late hole, falling to the California Baptist, 8-10, Saturday night in Riverside. For the second straight night both offenses exploded, but the Redhawks late rally came up just short in loss to Lancers.

"We didn't keep the ball in the park tonight and need to be better being down in the zone against their power guys," said head coach Donny Harrel after the loss.

Both teams came out swinging on the night, with the Redhawks getting 2-runs in the first on a 2-rbi single by Jackson Lind. That was promptly followed by two in the bottom frame for the Lancers.

After tying the game after one, the Lancers would score the next seven runs in the ballgame over five innings of play, holding a 9-2 advantage heading into the 7th. Seattle U would mount a furious rally from there, scoring 6-runs in the 7th, highlighted by a 3-run homerun by Matt Boissoneault to cut the Lancer lead to just one. CBU would then add an insurance run in the bottom of the inning, before turning the Redhawks away in their final two at bats to snag the win and the series.

"Our offense showed resilience coming back," coach Harrel added. "After scoring two in the first, we gave away too many at-bats after knocking out the starter. Still searching for more consistent play through nine innings."

In his start on the mound, Nestor German went five innings while giving up six earned runs. Four Redhawk pitchers made appearances in the ballgame, while Kian Hogan and Kaden Alberghini both gave up no runs and struck out one each.

The Redhawks now turn their attention to game three, as they look to salvage the conference series with the Lancers. The start time for tomorrow's game has been moved to 11am PT, an hour earlier than the originally scheduled noon first pitch.
