Riverside, Calif. - Seattle U baseball dropped game one of their 3-game series with California Baptist, 7-9, Friday night in California. The Redhawks threatened throughout the ballgame but could not find the timely hitting as they find themselves behind in the conference series.

The story of the game on the night for the Redhawks was stranded runners. Seattle U out hit CBU 15-11 but left 14 runners on the base paths compared to just four for the Lancers. That included leaving the bases loaded on three occasions as the timely hitting wasn't there on the night.

Despite this, the Redhawks were in this ballgame in its entirety. Trailing 1-5 heading into the top of the third, the Redhawks scored 4-runs to tie the game up. That was capped off by a Jackson Lind single that drove in Matt Boissoneault to make it 5-5. After finding themselves down 2-runs again, Grant Heiser hit his team leading 4th homerun of the season in the top of the 7th to make the deficit just one.

The Lancers would build their lead back up to three, with the Redhawks having one last chance at the plate entering the 9th. A Kellen Carr rbi single made the difference just two, before the Redhawks once again had the bases loaded with two outs. Unfortunately, the rally would end there, as Seattle U would pop up to end the ballgame, falling to the Lancers, 7-9.

Seattle U now drops to 4-3 on thew season when they out-hit their opponents and 4-14 overall. They will look to even the series tomorrow with Nestor German getting the call. German is the reigning WAC Pitcher of the Week after recording a career and Redhawk high of 12 strikeouts last Saturday. First pitch from James W. Totman Stadium is set for 5pm PT.
