ARLINGTON, TX - Junior right-handed pitcher Nestor German has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week. German put up arguably his career best performance in the Redhawks 14-0 win over Utah Valley on Saturday.
"So proud of Nes getting the recognition," said head coach Donny Harrel of his pitcher. "He has worked his tail off since the end of last season and his stuff was electric this weekend, so well deserved."
The junior from Seattle dazzled the crowd at Bannerwood Park on Saturday, pitching a seven-inning complete game shutout for his second win of the season. The highlight of the performance came in the form of 12 strikeouts, a career high.
German and the Redhawks will be back in action this Wednesday, March 22, when they travel to Los Angeles to take on Southern California. That will be followed by a 3-game conference series with California Baptist this weekend.
