SEATTLE – Seattle U softball concluded the opening series of Western Athletic Conference (WAC) play on Saturday afternoon, falling to Tarleton (4-12) in six innings. Senior Madison Kahwaty continued her stellar performance in the series, going one-for-one with a walk and a hit by pitch. The contest at Logan Field drops Seattle U to 20-9 on the season with a record of 1-2 in WAC play.
The Redhawks fought hard in this contest all game long, mounting a comeback effort in the third with three runs. Kahwaty was able to get on base via a hit by pitch before Jocelynn De La Cruz launched a ball to left field for a double to grab her second RBI of the game. Sydney Frankenberger followed with a single through the right side before Kalyn Hill lifted one just over the shortstop to score De La Cruz and Frankenberger after a misplay by the left fielder.

Naomi Chaidez was strong once again in relief, allowing just two earned runs in four innings of work. Chaidez was able to keep Tarleton off the board in the third, fourth and fifth, retiring nine of the 13 batters she faced over that stretch.
SCORING SUMMARY
- First Inning: The Texans scored three runs on three hits. Jocelynn De La Cruz hit a sacrifice fly to left field to get one back.
- Second Inning: Tarleton scored five runs on four hits.
- Third Inning: De La Cruz doubled down the left field line to score a run. Kalyn Hill singled to left center, allowing two runs to score.
- Sixth Inning: The Texans scored four runs on four hits.
- Madison Kahwaty finished the weekend five-for-six (.833) with three doubles, two walks and one RBI.
- Jocelynn De La Cruz lead the team with four RBIs over the weekend, improving her team-leading RBI total to 37.
- Naomi Chaidez was fantastic in her two relief appearances, throwing 7.1 innings with just a 1.91 ERA.
