Bellevue, Wash. - Seattle U baseball dominated Utah Valley, 14-0 in seven innings, Saturday afternoon at Bannerwood Park. The Redhawk bats got after the Wolverines early and often, while Nestor German pitched a gem on the mound to even the series and give SU their first conference win of the season.

"We needed that," head coach Donny Harrel said after the ballgame. "We needed our best players to step up and Boissoneault does it in the first and you know Nestor after last week, what a rebound to come back and throw that type of game."

In just the 4th at bat of the game for the Redhawks, Matt Boissoneault (2) hit an opposite field 2-run homerun to put the Redhawks out front. He would not be the only Redhawk to go yard on the day, as Ryne Hays hit his third of the year in the bottom of the 5th that just hooked inside the left field foul pole for a 3-run blast, extending the SU lead to eight at that point.

Hudson Shupe tied Boissoneault and Hays for the team high in RBI on the day, going 1-for-2 with three batted in, including a triple and double. Trevor Antonson also had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Not lost in all the offense was the performance of German on the mound. In his fifth start of the season, the righty delivered arguably the best performance of his career. He pitched all seven innings and shutout the Wolverine offense for his second win of the season. The outing was highlighted by his career high 12 strikeouts, while giving up just three hits and two walks.

"He had everything going today," coach Harrel added of Germans start. "I asked Cappy when he came down from the pen and he said everything is rocking in the bullpen and he was able to nicely carry that onto the field."

Seattle U would push their lead to double digits in the 6th inning, bringing five runners in and making it a 14-0 ballgame. German came in for the top of the seventh and finished his complete game shutout with his 12th strikeout being recorded in the final out of the game, as the Redhawks 10-run ruled the Wolverines in seven.

The Redhawks now have a chance to take the series with the Wolverines in tomorrow's game 3. Blake Smith (0-1) is scheduled to start his third game on the mound for Seattle U, with first pitch set for noon at Bannerwood Park.
