SEATTLE – Seattle U softball recorded its fifth straight victory on Saturday, walking it off against Montana, 2-1, in extra innings. Redshirt freshman Katie Walling sent the Redhawks home happy, hitting a sacrifice fly to right field to allow senior Brooke Milder to score. The contest took place at Logan Field on the campus of Seattle U as part of the Seattle U Invite.
The Redhawks are now 18-5 after today's victory, winning five straight and 11 of their last 13. This marks the third time Seattle U has won at least five in a row this season, winning six in a row from Feb. 11-18 for their longest win streak so far.
The Redhawks tied this ball game in the bottom of the sixth after sophomore Tai Wilson doubled to right field with two runners on. Freshman Ava Sin got the momentum started with her second walk of the day and graduate student Olivia Viggiano got a runner in scoring position with her second hit of the day through the left side.

Sophomore Grace Luderer did a fantastic job of keeping the score close, allowing only one run and five hits to go along with six strikeouts in a complete game effort. After allowing a run in the third, Luderer really found her groove in the fourth, setting down the next six of seven and getting a double play to end the sixth. The native of Tarzana, Calif., really stepped up in the eighth, getting a strikeout and a ground out with a runner on third that allowed SU to win the game in the bottom half.
Graduate student Mekenzie Madokoro would lay down a perfectly placed sacrifice bunt to start the bottom of the eighth, allowing the runner to advance to third. Walling got the job done on the very next pitch, hitting a difficult to play ball to the right fielder that allowed Milder to score the winning run. Due to international play rules for extra innings, SU started with a runner on second in the eighth.
