HONOLULU, O'ahu, Hawaii – Seattle U softball concluded play at the Hawaii Invitational on Sunday, taking down Marist, 9-4, for its fifth straight victory. Junior Sydney Frankenberger had another stellar performance, going two-for-four with three RBIs. The nonconference contest took place at the RWSS Stadium in Honolulu, O'ahu, Hawaii.
The Redhawks went undefeated in five games at the 2023 Bank of Hawaii Invitational and have won 11 of their last 12.
SU got on the board early, putting up a two spot in the first inning. Olivia Viggiano opened the inning with a single, before Sydney Frankenberger got the scoring started with a two out RBI single.
The Redhawks broke the game wide open in the second, scoring six runs on four hits to take an eight-zero lead. Katie Walling lead off the inning with a single and later scored after Viggiano put the ball in play. Frankenberger ripped a single through the right side to score two and Mekenzie Madokoro grabbed the final RBI of the inning on a single to the shortstop.
Madison Kahwaty platted the final run of the game for SU, knocking an RBI double down the left field line to score Tai Wilson who had just walked.
Naomi Chaidez grabbed her first win of the year in her first start this season, pitching five strong innings.
