ARLINGTON, Texas – Stefanie Madrigal of Seattle U softball has been named the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Feb. 26.

The native of San Jose, Calif., went 3-0 over three appearances (two starts) at the Hawaii Invitational last weekend, posting an ERA of 0.88.

After picking up a win over St. Bonaventure out of the bullpen, Madrigal got the start against Marist and performed like she has all season. The senior claimed the victory after throwing a complete game, allowing only one run across five hits and striking out four. Madrigal ended the weekend with her best performance, throwing a complete game shutout against Hawaii.

The Preseason All-WAC selection has started the year off stellar, pitching to a 7-1 record with an ERA of 1.51. Madrigal has thrown four complete games with two shutouts over 46.1 innings, as well as holding batters to an average of .218 and striking out 22.

This marks the fourth time Madrigal has won the award in her career.

The Redhawks are on fire at the moment, going undefeated at the Hawaii Invitational and winning 11 of their last 12 games overall. They currently hold an overall record of 12-3.

Seattle U will head to its final road tournament of the 2023 season, starting with Michigan at noon on Friday at the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton, Calif.
