MCALLEN, Texas. - Seattle U swim completed Day Three of the WAC Championships. The Redhawks carried the momentum from Day Two and added even more top-ten times in school history.
For the women, Sarah Cook had a great performance in the 100 Breast. In the prelims, Cook secured a new personal best of 1:02.54, which improved on her fourth all-time standing in school history. Cook would then follow up with a 1:02.62 in finals, which placed her sixth overall in the meet and earned her All-WAC Second Team honors.
Maggie Robben had two personal bests in one day in the 200 Free. In the prelims, Robben finished the race in 1:51.94, which beat her old personal best by half a second. In the finals, Robben followed up with another personal best, by finishing the race in 1:49.84. Robben now moves into the #2 spot on the top-ten list in the 200 Free with her impressive performance.
True freshman Nohea Kamauu was able to secure a spot on the top-ten list in the 400 IM. Kamauu clocked in a time of 4:34.79, which places her tenth on the SU top-ten list in the event.
In the prelims of the 100 Back, Lydia Genson clocked in a time of 57.45 seconds. The effort by Genson places her fourth all-time in SU history.
On the men's side, Jaxon Gonzales had two huge performances in the 100 Breast. In the prelims of the event, the sophomore finished in 54.86 seconds, which was a personal best by over one second. Gonzales would follow up the great prelim race with a 54.85 finish in the finals. Gonzales moves from fifth overall to third on the top-ten list, beating out the original third overall time by .01 seconds.
Eric Thomure was able to move up on the top-ten list in the 100 Fly. Thomure finished the race in 48.43 seconds, which moved him to fourth on the top-ten all time list, edging out the original fourth best time by .01 seconds as well.
The men wrapped up the day with the 400 Medley Relay. The quartet of Brendan Ryan, Jaxon Gonzales, Eric Thomure, and Nicholas Imig clocked in a time of 3:20.95. The team's effort placed them ninth on the top-ten list.
The Redhawks will finish up WAC Championship action in Day Four of the event, with prelims starting at 8:30 AM PST and finals at 4:00 PM PST.
