SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Seattle U softball concluded its opening weekend of action on Sunday, shutting out Sacramento State, 7-0. Senior Stefanie Madrigal was fantastic on the mound, pitching seven scoreless innings and allowing only two hits. The contest took place at Shea Stadium in Sacramento, California.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Seattle U softball concluded its opening weekend of action on Sunday, shutting out Sacramento State, 7-0. Senior Stefanie Madrigal was fantastic on the mound, pitching seven scoreless innings and allowing only two hits. The contest took place at Shea Stadium in Sacramento, California. 

The Redhawks got off the a fast start in this one, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. Senior Madison Kahwaty ripped a single into center field, knocking home the games first run. The score would remain the same until freshman Ava Sin crushed a ball over the head of the center fielder, marking her first career triple. The final inning of scoring occurred in the top of the sixth, with the Redhawks tacking on three more to push the game out of reach.

Madrigal threw four innings of perfect ball before, Sacramento State's Buckley marked the Hornet's first hit. The win improves Madrigal's record to 2-1 with a 2.94 ERA. 

SCORING SUMMARY Seattle U will be back in action next Friday, facing off with UIC and Fresno State at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively, in Fresno, California.
