NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Seattle U men's basketball could not slow a hot and high powered Stephen F. Austin offense on its home court Saturday afternoon, falling 79-65 in William R. Coliseum.

The Redhawks dropped to 16-6 on the season and 7-2 in the Western Athletic Conference after falling on back-to-back nights for just the second time this season. The Lumberjacks are now 15-7 overall and 7-2 in league play.

SFA shot 50 percent from the field in the first frame and bettered that to 58 percent in the second in their 10th home win of the season. Coming off their worst shooting performance of the year on Thursday, the Redhawks showed improvement, but still managed just a 37 percent clip, including 4-of-22 from three.

The first half saw four ties and four lead changes, including a pair of Paris Dawson free throws that put the Redhawks in front 25-23 at the 5:57 mark. But the Lumberjacks would use an 8-0 run as part of a 15-7 push down the stretch to carry a 38-32 lead into the break.

Seattle U cut the halftime spread in half two minutes into the second, but SFA responded with seven quick points for a 48-38 advantage at the 16:03 mark. The Redhawks would briefly trim the spread to six, but another SFA run opened up a 14-point, 57-43 advantage. The spread would never drop below double digits for the balance of the game.

Cameron Tyson led all scorers with 16 points to go along with three assists and three steals. Alex Schumacher added 12 points while Brandon Chatfield had nine and Riley Grigsby and Matthew Levis added eight apiece. Emeka Udenyi had a team-high eight rebounds.

SFA finished with four in double figures including 15 each from Latrell Jossell and Sadaidriene Hall.

The Redhawks return to Seattle for three of their next four games, beginning Wednesday, Feb. 1 with a 7 p.m. tip off against Abilene Christian at Climate Pledge Arena.
