HUNTSVILLE, Texas – After overcoming a pair of double digit deficits earlier this season, Seattle U men's basketball finally ran into one they could not shoot their way out of as an eight-game win streak ended at the hands of Sam Houston Thursday night at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.

The 55-40 defeat moved the Redhawks to 16-5 overall and 7-1 in the Western Athletic Conference. The Bearkats improved to 16-5 overall and 6-3 in WAC play.

Seattle U never got anything going offensively, managing just 16 points in the first half and finishing with a season low 44. They shot below 20 percent from the field for the first time and connected on just five threes.

Cameron Tyson had 10 points as the only Redhawk in double figures. Alex Schumacher had seven points and Kobe Williamson added five.

The Bearkats were paced by Donte Powers' 13 points. Eight total players scored for Sam Houston.

Despite its own shooting woes, Seattle U outscored the Bearkats 24-21 in the second frame, powering their way to a 15-for-19 performance from the free-throw line.

The Redhawks will have a quick turnaround on the road, matching up against Stephen F. Austin on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. CT in Nacogdoches.
